Vietnam, Japan to strengthen ties on security cooperation

PSNews- Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Minister of Public Security of Vietnam on June 27 received Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Umeda Kunio and Mr. Yasuo Fujita, Head of the Japan International Cooperation Agency in Vietnam

At the meeting, Minister To Lam expressed his pleasure at the results of the cooperation between the two countries in the past time.

The Minister of Public Security affirmed that he will continuously make contributions to development of the cooperative relationship between Japan and Vietnam and accelerate the signing of agreements on cooperation in the fields of order, social safety and prevention of crimes, which both sides are interested in.

Minister To Lam stressed that the Vietnam Ministry of Public Security will ensure absolute safety for Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe during the APEC 2017 Summit, which will be held in Da Nang city later this year.

The Minister of Public Security then hoped that the good relationship between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Japanese authorities will continue to develop in the coming time, contributing to strengthening general relations between the two countries.

Minister Lam also expressed his desire to continue working with the Japanese side in equipping Vietnamese functional force with new patrol boats, fire-fighting trucks and specialized fire-fighting engines.

Ambassador to Vietnam Umeda Kunio thanked Minister To Lam for the kind reception and said that he would try his best to contribute his part to deepening the relationship between the two countries in general, as well as between cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Japanese law enforcement agencies in particular.
