Vietnam, Thailand urged to boost stronger cooperation

He consented to bolster trade and investment cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand, saying that Vietnam desires to boost exports to Thailand in order to balance the trade value between the two countries.
Both nations should also further enhance tourism links, the Vietnamese Government leader said, adding that Vietnam wishes to welcome more Thai tourists in the time to come.
He called on the Thai side to open its market for Vietnamese products and facilitate Vietnam businesses’ activities in the country, while emphasizing that Vietnam will offer the best possible conditions for Thai investors and businesses to effectively operate in Vietnam.
For his part, Ambassador Tanee congratulated Vietnam on assuming its role as the ASEAN Chair in 2020 and a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2020-2021 tenure.
The two countries are playing crucial roles in augmenting cooperation among countries in Southeast Asia, he said while expressing his hope that Vietnam will consider his nation its trusted partner.
The Thai diplomat suggested stepping up security cooperation, both on land and in the sea, and put forward the idea of electricity generation cooperation between Thailand, Vietnam and Laos or Cambodia.
