A Vietnamese Deputy PM to attend SEA Games 32 opening ceremony

Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang is paying a working visit to Cambodia on May 4-5 to attend the opening ceremony of the 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 32).

Quang’s participation shows Vietnam’s respect for its traditional relations with Cambodia, the country’s support for Cambodia’s successful organization of the region’s largest sporting event, as well as its respect for ASEAN cooperation in all fields, including sport.

SEA Games 32 is set to take place from May 5 – 17 in capital Phnom Penh and four other localities of Siem Reap, Preah Sihanouk, Kampot and Kep

Cambodia has welcomed as many as 12,404 athletes and coaches from all Southeast Asian states to compete in 36 sports.

Vietnam has sent a 1,003-member delegation to Cambodia, including 702 athletes, to compete in 30 sports.

Vietnam and Cambodia have maintained the fine neighbourliness, traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation over the years through regular phone talks and visit exchanges.

Bilateral cooperation mechanisms have been implemented effectively, helping to strengthen trust and deal with problems that may arise.

Both sides are working on the Cambodian National Assembly building project as a special gift from the Vietnamese Party and State to the Cambodian legislature.

Along with enhanced economic cooperation, the two countries have also maintained cooperation in defense-security, border management, education-training, science-technology, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.
