The Committee for National Defense and Security held its 6th plenary session, on the morning of May 8, at the National Assembly House, to scrutinize the draft laws amending and supplementing a number of articles to the Law on Exit and Entry of Vietnamese Citizens and the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam.
Presenting a summary report on the law projects, Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang said that the Politburo issued Resolution No. 08 on January 16, 2017 on developing tourism as a spearhead economic sector.
However, the Law on Exit and Entry of Vietnamese citizens and the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam have not met the Party's guidelines so laws and policies should be revised to adapt to the reality.
Presenting a report on the results of the assessment of the law projects, Standing Member of the Committee for National Defense and Security Senior Colonel Vu Huy Khanh atated that the committee basically agreed on the need to amend and supplement the law projects as well as on their political, legal and practical grounds articulated in the Government's Report.
He added that the drafting projects had been prepared by the drafting agency fullly and elaborately with high quality, so they meet the conditions to be presented to the National Assembly Standing Committee and the National Assembly for further consideration.
Concluding the meeting, Chairman of the Committee for National Defense and Security Le Tan Toi hailed the high sense of responsibility in giving opinions on the documents of the delegates.
Generally, delegates agreed on the amendments and supplements to the current laws as they can fix inadequacies and limitations of the laws in practice while contributing to symplifying administrative procedures in the field of exit and entry.
