Deputy Foreign Minister meets int’l journalists covering 14th National Party Congress
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will create the most favorable conditions for international journalists to cover the 14th National Party Congress so that information on the Congress and its outcomes can be conveyed to the rest of the world in a comprehensive and objective manner.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang on January 19 met with foreign journalists from newspapers of communist parties, political parties holding important positions in their countries, media outlets of the overseas Vietnamese community, and international news agencies, who are in Vietnam to cover the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV).
On behalf of the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hang warmly welcomed and thanked the foreign journalists for their presence in Viet Nam to reflect the country’s important event.
She emphasised that the 14th National Party Congress holds special historical significance, marking a major turning point in the country’s development as it not only reviews and assesses the achievements of 40 years of Doi moi (Renewal), but also outlines goals, vision and major policies to lead Vietnam into a new era of development.
She noted that, in the context of a rapidly changing, complex and unpredictable regional and global situations in 2025, Vietnam, under the leadership of the Party, has achieved important and breakthrough achievements, particularly in institutional reform. This includes the issuance of nine strategic resolutions in key development areas, the rearrangement of development space and administrative boundaries, and the implementation of a two-tier local administration model.
Vietnam continues to stand out in the region, with its economy reaching over 510 billion USD, economic growth exceeding 8%, per capita income standing at 5,000 USD, foreign trade hitting a record 900 billion USD, and more than 20 million international tourist arrivals. National defence and security was firmly safeguarded while Vietnam’s international standing continues to be strengthened and enhanced.
The Deputy Minister requested relevant units within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to create the most favorable conditions for international journalists to work during the 14th National Party Congress so that they can convey the messages and outcomes of the 14th National Party Congress to the international community in a positive, comprehensive and objective manner.
She also wished that the journalists would have a successful working visit to Viet Nam, personally witness the country’s socio-economic achievements, experience the Vietnamese rich cultural and historical values, and further contribute to promoting the image of Viet Nam to international friends, helping the world better understand Viet Nam’s development path.
Expressing their appreciation for Viet Nam’s thoughtful reception, representatives of international media organizations and overseas Vietnamese media said they were honored to visit Viet Nam, eye-witnessing an upbeat atmosphere among the Vietnamese people, and receiving great support for their mission of reflecting the significant political event of the 14th National Party Congress.
The journalists praised the country for its major achievements over the past 40 years, saying that the big positive results of Doi Moi are vivid evidence of the excellent leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, and that Viet Nam is a notable example of successful national development.
They wished the 14th National Party Congress great success and affirmed their commitment to making every effort to convey the 14th National Party Congress’s contents and policy decisions in a truthful and objective manner, thereby informing the world of Viet Nam’s development, and helping spread messages of peace, friendship and social progress to global audiences.
At the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang answered various questions from journalists regarding Viet Nam’s socio-economic development.
