European Council President visits Hanoi’s metro line project

President António Costa’s visit to Metro Line 3 takes place during his official visit to Viet Nam (January 28–29) at the invitation of State President Luong Cuong, underscoring the EU’s strong commitment to sustainable development and strategic partnership with Vietnam.

Metro Line 3, running from Nhon Station to Hanoi Station, is co-financed by the European Investment Bank (EIB) and is one of Hanoi's key transport projects aimed at reducing traffic congestion, improving public transportation, and enhancing the urban environment.

Ahead of the visit, EU Ambassador to Viet Nam Julien Guerrier noted the EU’s strong interest in infrastructure cooperation, emphasizing opportunities under the Global Gateway initiative in green transport, railways, ports, airports, high-speed rail, and urban metro systems.
