Minister To Lam is part of the Vietnamese governmental delegation led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attending high-level meetings of the 78th session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly and paying a working visit to the United States and an official visit to Brazil.

At the meeting, Minister To Lam emphasized that the Vietnamese Government and the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security gives a high priority to sending police officers to participate in UN peacekeeping activities.

Minister To Lam took the chance to thank the Deputy Secretary General and UN function agencies for their active and effective support and assistance to the Ministry of Public Security in the process of training and deploying Vietnamese police officers to the UN peacekeeping missions. 

Minister To Lam expressed hope that Mr. Jean-Pierre Lacroix further suppport the cooperation between UN agencies and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam in equipment and capacity building of the Vietnamese police force.

Mr. Jean-Pierre Lacroix pledged that he will actively support Vietnam's participation in UN peacekeeping activities, saying that they hope that the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam will continue to send qualified police officers, especially female police officers, to UN peacekeeping agencies.

Mr. Jean-Pierre Lacroix said, he would send a working delegation to Vietnam and invited leaders of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security to attend a number of important UN conferences on peacekeeping in the near future.
