NA Chairman visits Iran Innovation and Technology House in Tehran

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue of Vietnam on August 9 called at the Iran House of Innovation and Technology (IHIT) in Tehran during his ongoing visit to Iran.

Iranian First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber Dezfuli and leaders of the IHIT welcomed Hue’s visit and affirmed Vietnam is one of Iran’s important partners in the region. They expressed the desire to strengthen cooperative relations with Vietnam in various fields, especially in economy, trade, culture, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.

Innovation and science-technology are among priority areas of cooperation between the two countries, they stressed.

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue for his part emphasized that the Vietnam – Iran relations are developing well on the basis of mutual trust, in which diverse economic cooperation is a major pillar.  

This is a solid foundation for businesses of the two countries to expand cooperation moving forward, he noted.

Anticipating global development trends, he said Vietnam is accelerating the process of restructuring the economy and transforming growth models, with a primary focus on knowledge content, digital economy, sustainable development, and innovation.

These fields play a role important role as a driving force for new development in the coming period, he said.

According to the top legislator, Vietnam’s development is based on three decisive breakthrough factors, namely institutional reform; investment in education, science - technology; and infrastructure investment.

He briefed his hosts on Vietnam’s plan to put into operation the National Innovation Centre in October 2023 to promote an innovative startup ecosystem, and serve as a place for organizing specialized national and regional events, including exhibitions, forums, and conferences.

The IHIT leaders shared the view that both Iran and Vietnam boast many opportunities and potential for cooperation in the fields of high technology and innovation, nanotechnology, biotechnology, as well as in satellite research and microelectronics. They said the IHIT would consider developing research plans with Vietnam and opening its office at the National Innovation Centre of Vietnam.

Chairman Hue welcomed the proposal and affirmed that the National Assembly and the Government of Vietnam will always accompany, create the best possible conditions for, and support foreign enterprises, including those from Iran like the IHIT, in effective operations in the country for the benefit of both parties.

On this occasion, he cordially invited the Vice President of Iran to visit Vietnam at an appropriate time.
