Overseas Vietnamese place their trust in the 14th National Party Congress
As the country stands at a new threshold of development, Vietnamese people living, studying, and working across the five continents are closely following the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam with special attention.
Full trust in Party’s new vision
From Vienna (Austria), Dr. Nguyen Thi Bich Yen, Deputy Editor-in-Chief and representative of WAJ Magazine at the United Nations, stated that for the overseas Vietnamese community, the 14th National Party Congress is a major political event of the country, and also a chance to consolidate confidence among all social strata and lays the foundation for consensus in the nation’s next stage of development.
It represents a strategic milestone, demonstrating Vietnam’s resolve, intellect, and strong aspiration to rise under the leadership of the Party as the country embarks on a new development path.
According to her, although living and working in international environments, many overseas Vietnamese closely follow the Congress preparation process, especially the draft documents. “The documents clearly reflect a cautious mindset that emphasizes continuity and development while remaining closely aligned with the country’s realities. Their content is built in a balanced manner between development goals and the need for stability, between aspirations for advancement and the capacity for implementation under Vietnam’s specific conditions,” she noted.
She added that one of the issues of particular interest to overseas Vietnamese is the identification in the draft documents of science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation as key drivers of development; in this context, the role of scientists, including overseas Vietnamese, is recognized as a crucial resource.
Drawing from her practical experience in participating in scientific research projects linking Vietnam with international partners, Dr. Bich Yen expressed her confidence that such cooperation models deliver tangible results, helping to enhance research capacity, facilitate technology transfer, and expand Vietnam’s international academic networks. In particular, Vietnam’s proactive effort to expand its scientific space globally by establishing scientific offices in various countries is a suitable approach in a context where science and technology are increasingly becoming strategic resources for developed nations.
In addition, the Party and State’s emphasis on soliciting opinions from diverse social groups, including overseas Vietnamese in general and overseas Vietnamese intellectuals and scientists in particular, demonstrates an open-minded, receptive spirit and a desire to build broader social consensus during the preparation of the 14th National Party Congress.
“The voices of overseas Vietnamese are listened to seriously and respectfully. This attentiveness not only contributes to improving the Congress documents, but also reflects recognition of the role and contributions of overseas Vietnamese. In doing so, it further nurtures trust and awakens a sense of responsibility and the spirit of ‘great national unity of Vietnamese people worldwide’ in accompanying the nation toward sustainable development in the future,” Dr. Bich Yen emphasized.
Ready to accompany motherland’s development
Sharing this sentiment, Dr. Nguyen Hong Son, President of the Federation of Vietnamese Associations in Japan, affirmed that the 14th National Party Congress carries the meaning of a “call to action” for the overseas Vietnamese community. According to him, the Congress not only reviews five years of implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, but also opens a strategic vision toward 2030 and a longer-term vision to 2045, aligned with the aspiration to transform Vietnam into a developed high-income country.
According to Dr Son, Vietnam’s international standing has steadily risen, while foreign relations continue to expand and deepen. On that basis, overseas Vietnamese expect that the decisions of the 14th Congress will create greater space and more favorable mechanisms for them to contribute more substantially to national development. The overseas Vietnamese community, including more than 600,000 Vietnamese in Japan, can become a valuable resource in improving the quality of the national workforce. With experience in advanced technological and management environments, overseas Vietnamese can serve as “strategic bridges,” facilitating technology transfer, applying modern governance models, and combining human resource training with innovative thinking for domestic enterprises.
For overseas Vietnamese entrepreneurs, trust directed toward the 14th National Party Congress is reflected to long-term commitments. Lawyer Tran Ba Phuc, President of the Vietnamese Business Association in Australia and Vice President of the Association of Overseas Vietnamese Entrepreneurs, shared that more than four decades of living and working far from the homeland have made one truth ever clearer to him: wherever they are, overseas Vietnamese always carry the image of their homeland in their hearts and an enduring desire to contribute to the country.
Phuc also said that, Vietnam has deeply integrated into the global community and attained an increasingly prominent position on the international stage. This transformation is closely associated with the sound reform policies and the strategic, humane vision of the Party and the State, particularly the policy of openness, integration, and the recognition of overseas Vietnamese as an inseparable part of the Vietnamese national community.
Mr Ba Phuc emphasized that Politburo Resolution No. 36-NQ/TW on overseas Vietnamese affairs stands as a foundational milestone. According to him, more than two decades of implementing the resolution have affirmed a lasting truth: when the Party and State place trust in overseas Vietnamese, they transform their affection for the homeland into concrete actions, and their aspiration to contribute into tangible contributions to the country.
Looking toward the 14th National Party Congress, Phuc noted that both he personally and the overseas Vietnamese community clearly sense the Party’s strong determination to pursue renewal, and feel deeply encouraged by the invitation to participate in shaping the country’s future. “We understand that this is not merely the mobilization of material resources, but an expression of trust that entrusts overseas Vietnamese with the responsibility of becoming ‘key actors’ in the process of formulating and realizing the nation’s aspiration to rise”, he said.
“We firmly believe that with support and facilitation from the Government, overseas Vietnamese will participate more deeply in strategic value chains, joining hands to build a strong and prosperous Vietnam. With the advantage of serving as bridges of knowledge and technology and possessing extensive international networks, the overseas Vietnamese community commits to devoting its full dedication and intellect to contributing to breakthrough fields such as digital transformation, high technology, and modern governance”, he affirmed.
