Addressing delegates at the 13th National Women’s Congress in Hanoi, PM Chinh hailed the significant contributions made by women to national construction and development.

Throughout the course of history, Vietnamese women have overcome a range of barriers, prejudice, and difficulties to make great contributions to national defence, construction, and development, he told the congress.

He went on to single out women for their successful business models which have ultimately benefited the nation and local firms.

Over the past two years, the PM said women, especially female healthcare workers, have united with other forces to fight COVID-19 and deal with rising infection numbers, thereby saving many lives.

After analysing the country’s current opportunities and challenges, the PM asked the Vietnam Women’s Union to thoroughly grasp and introduce solutions to bring to life Party guidelines and State policies.

Simultaneously, he also requested that the union affirm its role and position as a pioneering organisation for gender equality and push for the advancement of Vietnamese women both regionally and globally.

The union must instill the will, aspiration, national patriotism, and pride in women, while also encouraging them to promote their role in building and cultivating Vietnamese family values, said the Government leader.

The PM suggested that Party committees, ministries, and localities develop specific programmes and action plans aimed at bringing about a dramatic change in the overall quality and effectiveness of women-launched campaigns at all levels.

Approximately 1,000 delegates representing Vietnamese women are attending their 13th national congress in Hanoi on March 10 - 11 to review work over the past five years and outline tasks ahead for 2022 to 2027.
