State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s Russia visit in focus

During the President Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s Russia visit from November 29 to December 2, the two countries issued a joint statement on the Vision of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Russia until 2030.

President Phuc arrives in Moscow on November 29, beginning a four-day official visit to Russia at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin. He is warmly welcomed by Russian officials at Vnukovo airport.

The visit marks 71 years of the Vietnam –Russia diplomacy, 20 years of signing a joint statement on the Vietnam – Russia Strategic Partnership and nine years of issuing a joint statement on the Vietnam – Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Phuc and Putin spend nearly four hours discussing 20 important issues aimed at further promoting cooperation between the two countries in the coming time.

Both sides issue a joint statement on the Vision of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Russia until 2030 that charts a development and cooperation course for the two countries in the coming years.

Meeting with Russian State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin, President Phuc suggests the State Duma work closely with the Vietnam National Assembly to better perform the role of the High-Level Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee between the two legislative bodies in order to strengthen the Vietnam - Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Attending a Vietnam – Russia business forum, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc requests the ministries, agencies and businesses of the two countries promptly remove difficulties in order to raise their trade and investment value by 15fold and three fold in the future.

He also witnesses the signing of a number of cooperation documents between economic groups of the two countries in the fields of energy, finance, and farm produce import-export.

He attends the inauguration ceremony of direct flights between Vietnam and Russia by budget airline Vietjet Air.

President Phuc receives CEOs of leading Russian enterprises that have cooperation with Vietnam, including the Russian Direct Investment Fund, Gazprom, Novatek, Systema, and Miratorg.

On the sidelines of the visit, Vietnamese Minister of National Defense, General Phan Van Giang, holds talks with Russian Defense Minister, General Sergei Shoigu (photo) to promote military cooperation and law enforcement between the two countries.

President Phuc meets with officials of the Vietnamese Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Russia.
