Vietnam treasures special ties with Laos: Deputy PM
The Party, Government, and people of Vietnam always place great importance on promoting the ties of friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh made this affirmation during a meeting held on December 7 in Hanoi with Vice Chairman of the Lao National Assembly (NA) Sommad Pholsena.
The Laotian official used to event to thank the Vietnamese Party, State, and people for consistently supporting and assisting Laos in socio-economic development, particularly the support in helping the neighbouring country develop a new NA building which entered operation last August.
Vice Chairman Pholsena, who is also head of the steering committee for the Lao NA building project, expressed his wish to see the Vietnamese side continue co-operating with and helping Laos to operate this building. He also suggested the commendation of both collectives and individuals who have made considerable contributions to this project.
In response, Deputy PM Thanh noted that the building is critically important to bilateral co-operation and serves as a symbol of both side’s special solidarity, noting that the Vietnamese side is keen to continue helping Laos with its building operation and maintenance.
The Vietnamese Ministry of Construction has also been requested to continue working alongside the Laotian side to finalise procedures and reward those with substantial contributions to the project, the host official added.
Vice Chairman Pholsena is accompanying NA Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane during an official visit to Vietnam from December 6 to December 8.
