Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security seek to cooperate with European partners
PSNews - On the occasion of the 30th founding anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam – Croatia diplomatic relations and the 74th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam – Czech Republic diplomatic relations, Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Le Van Tuyen, leading a high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of Public Security, had a working trip to Croatia and Czech Republic from May 5th to 14th, 2024.
* In Croatia, Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen had talks with Croatian Deputy General Police Director Jozo Suker on May 7, 2024.
Highlighting positive developments in the political-diplomatic relations between the two countries over the past time, Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to maintaining and strengthening relations with its traditional partners in Central and Eastern Europe, including Croatia.
However, he said, the two sides have not yet signed bilateral agreements on crime prevention and control, while lacking of cooperation in crime prevention via INTERPOL.
At the talks, the two sides agreed to further promote cooperation in multi-level delegation exchange, capacity building of law enforcement officers, while strengthening coordination in ensuring security for visits of leaders of one country to the other and safeguarding major events related to the two countries, and sharing experience in neutralizing bombs, explosives and ionizing radication, as well as exchanging criminal information via INTERPOL.
The two sides totally agreed not to let any individual or organization use one country's territory to carry out sabotage activities against the other country.
Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen suggested the Croatian side to transfer manufacturing technology of specialized vehicles and equipment to the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security.
Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen also suggested that the two sides should step up negotiations on bilateral agreements on extradition and transfer of sentenced persons as well as cooperation mechanisms in crime prevention and control as well as other fields of common concern, while drafting a cooperation agreement between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Croatian Ministry of the Interior.
* In Czech Republic, Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen had talks with Deputy Minister of the Interior of the Czech Republic Radek Kana on May 9, 2024.
At the talks, the two sides reviewed the results of bilateral cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic over the past time as well as discussed orientations of cooperation in the coming time.
On the basis of signed cooperation documents including the Agreement on Transfer of Sentenced Persons, the Agreement on Crime Prevention and Control and the Agreement on the Acceptance of the Return of Citizens, the two sides have been promoting bilateral cooperation in the field of security and law enforcement, focusing on enhancing multi-level delegation exchange and exchanging criminal information, especially transnational crime, high-tech crime, human trafficking.
Notably, the two sides promptly exchanged information on drug-related criminals committing crimes in Czech and hiding in Vietnam via INTERPOL and Czech Police Liaison Officer in Vietnam.
To further strengthen bilateral cooperation, the two sides agreed to promote multi-level delegation exchange, exchange experience in preventing and combating transnational organized crimes, high-tech crimes, drug-related crimes, human trafficking and illegal immigration, terrorism and riot, as well as closely cooperate in tracking and arresting wanted fugitives and verifying criminal information related to the two countries.
The heads of the two delegations also reached consensus on not letting any individual or organization use one country's territory to carry out sabotage activities against the other country, while ensuring security and safety for one country’s citizen living and working in the other country.
Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen suggested that the Czech side soon reply to the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam on the time for the negotiation of an agreement on extradition between the two countries, as well as actively exchange information with the Vietnamese side to have a full view of Vietnam's democracy and practices of human rights so as to stop supporting elements hostile to Vietnam.
He also urged the Czech Republic’s Ministry of the Interior to transfer manufacturing technology of specialized vehicles and equipment to Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security as well as support to organize training programs for Vietnamese police officers on martial arts, shooting, counter-terrorism and hostage-rescue skills and tactics, and ensuring security and safety for major events.
*Previously, Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen visited the Vietnam Embassy in Czech Republic and had a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam to Czech Republic Duong Hoai Nam and other officials of the Embassy.
