Criminal police force urged to improve main role in combating crimes
The Criminal Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security on January 8 held a conference to review the force’s task performance in 2018 and to roll out missions for 2019 with the attendant of Senior Lieutenant General Le Quy Vuong, Deputy Minister of Public Security.

At the conference, leaders of the Criminal Police Department briefed Deputy Minister Vuong and delegates on the force’s task performance in 2018, underlining that the force had well performed its tasks and gained various good achievements.
During the year, the force crafted effective measures and guided local criminal police units in implementing these measures to prevent and fight crimes, social evils, while well advising the Ministry of Public Security’s leadership in building master plans and long-term schemes to combat crimes.
Reports at the event also read that, in 2018, the criminal police force solved 43,826 criminal cases or 82.32% of the total cases, arrested 87,769 suspects, as well as eradicated 2,721 gangs and criminal groups. Last year, the force also successfully solved most of the serious criminal cases related to murders and "black credit" and arrested involved suspects.

For their achievements of the force highly appreciated by the National Assembly and the people, dozens of collectives and individuals of the force were presented with various awards by the Ministry of Public Security.
Speaking at the event, on behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and leaders of the Ministry of Public Security, Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong hailed the achievements in the fight against criminals of the Criminal Police Department as well as local criminal police units nationwide.
In order to successfully implement the Public Security Central Party Committee’s Resolution and directions of the Minister of Public Security on police work in 2019, Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong urged the force to improve its main role in combating crimes.
Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong asked the force to strive to reduce the crime rate by 3 percent or 1,500 cases in 2019, creating a foundation to reduce 5 percent of the criminal cases in 2020.
Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong also urged the criminal police force to listen to the people while strengthening cooperation with relevant units within and outside the Public Security Forces to promote crime prevention and fight. “The force should coordinate closely with all agencies, branches, localities and organizations to disseminate information and laws, and mobilize people to take part in preventing and reporting on crimes,” he emphasized.
The Criminal Police Department was also requested to promote international cooperation in mutual legal assistance with other country to prevent crimes from outside the border, to coordinate in arresting and transferring criminals and to learn its peers’ experience in preventing and fighting crime.
