Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam checks security work for APEC 2017 in Quang Nam

On February 14th afternoon, Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam, Deputy Minister of Public Security, Head of the Security Order Subcommittee of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2017 had a working session in Hoi An city to discuss measures to ensure absolute security for all activities of APEC 2017 to be held in Quang Nam.

The working session saw the participation of Mr. Phan Viet Cuong, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Le Tri Thanh, Deputy Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial People’s Committee; Mr. Nguyen Hong Quang, Chief of the Office of the Quang Nam Provincial People’s Committee, as well as representatives of the Quang Nam Provincial Police.

As planned, Hoi An city will host 3 events within the framework of APEC 2017, including the Meeting of Finance Senior Officials on October 19th; the Meeting of Deputy Finance Ministers and Deputy Governors of Central Banks on October 20th; and the Meeting of Finance Ministers on October 20th – 21th.

Of the meetings, the Meeting of Finance Ministers is considered the most important event with the participation of 350 delegates, including finance ministers of the 21 APEC member economies.

Addressing the working session, Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam instructed the public security forces to exert all-out effort and to cooperate closely with local relevant forces to ensure absolute safety and security for the activities of APEC 2017 in Hoi An. In addition, the public security forces should pay attention to the entry and exit management; fire prevention and crime prevention.

Earlier, the Deputy Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial People’s Committee had led local police in conducting a counter terrorism exercise in Hoi An city in August 2016.

On behalf of leaders of the Quang Nam Provincial Police, Deputy Director, Senior Colonel Huynh Trung Nguyen said that the Quang Nam Provincial Police has been well prepared and is ready to serve the APEC 2017’s activities in Hoi An.
