Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong welcomed the FBI delegation to Vietnam to attend the ASEANAPOL 39 as an observer.
Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong also highlighted good outcomes of the bilateral cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) of Vietnam and the FBI, and stressed the significance of the cooperation documents signed by the two sides, including a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on prevention and combat of transnational crimes in 2019; an MoU between the Counter-terrorism Department of Vietnam and the Terrorist Screening Center under the FBI on sharing of information about terrorists in 2017, and Agreement on transfer of DNA testing software in 2015.
Over the past time, the two sides have coordinated with each other via cooperation channels in investigating specialized cases of mutual concern, particularly cases relating to high-tech crimes and sexual abuse against children, as well as in verifying criminal records of lawbreakers and arresting fugitive wanted criminals. Regarding cooperation in personnel training, the FBI has opened specialized training courses for the Vietnamese police officers.

The Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Public Security also wished that the US side promotes cooperation and coordination with the Vietnamese side in crime prevention and fight, and further supports the Vietnamese police force by providing it with advanced equipment, tools and machinery for crime prevention and control, and offering more training courses on investigation and criminal sciences for the Vietnamese police officers.
Mr. Charles Spencer thanked Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong for the reception and appreciated the fruitful results of the bilateral coordination between the MPS and the FBI. He also emphasized the importance of regular meetings and exchanges between the two sides and affirmed that the FBI is always willing to cooperate with the MPS in fields of mutual concern.
