Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong works with Nghe An Province on drug prevention and combat.
PSNews – A delegation of the National Committee for AIDS, Drugs and Prostitution Prevention and Control, led by Lieutenant General Le Quy Vuong, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Public Security, had a meeting with Nghe An Province.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong appreciated the effort and resolve of Nghe An in prevention and combat of drug crimes.
According to reports at the meeting, functional forces of the province detected 1,076 cases of drug trafficking and trading and arrested over 1,300 suspects involved. Particularly, they cracked down on 2 major synthetic drug trafficking rings, with the involvement of foreigners.
Regarding detoxification work, Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong spoke highly of effective methods recently implemented in Nghe An. The province now has over 6,800 addicts recorded by the authorities while 404 out of 480 communes, including 83 communes, wards or towns regarded as drug hotspots, see drug abuse.
Leaders of Nghe An also pointed out various difficulties, such as shortages of budgets and means, faced by the local functional forces.
Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong asked the authorities of Nghe An to promote information drives on the harms of drugs and prostitution, raise the role of families and the communities in drug prevention and control, and mobilize the comprehensive strength of the political system in the fight against drug crimes. He also highlighted the need to improve the quality and effectiveness of treatment of drug addicts and people with HIV/AIDS while tightening the management of prostitutes.
