Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son, Deputy Minister of Public Security leading a delegation of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on October 29 worked with the Quang Ngai provincial police on natural disaster response and relief in the province.

Reportedly, the Quang Ngai provincial police have mobilized their forces to ensure traffic safety in flooded spillways while coordinating with functional forces to help fishermen anchor their boats in safe shelters. All local policemen were on duty around the clock and the local police units readied their forces and means for search and rescue missions upon request.

According to initial statistics, the typhoon had caused no death but injured 15 people and unroofed 84,000 houses, offices, and schoolsin Quang Ngai province. Many billboards and trees were blown offon the roads.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son emphasized that Quang Ngai provincial police had actively participated in response to the storm, contributing to minimizing the damages caused by Typhoon No. 9.

He noted, after the storm, the Quang Ngai provincial police should pay attention to repairing their damaged workplaces to promptly restoretheir normal operations.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son and the delegation visited the General Hospital of Quang Ngai Province to inquire after the health of Nguyen Minh Hoang, a soldier of the Mobile Police Office of Quang Ngai province injured while participating in a natural disaster response mission on October 27.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son also sent gifts to encourage a policeman in Son Thuy commune, Son Ha district who was injured while helping people to consolidate their houses before the storm comes.

* On the afternoon of the same day, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son and his entourage visited and encouraged teachers and students at Song Ve Primary School inTu Nghia district, Quang Ngai province which was severely damaged by the storm.
