Deputy Minister of Public Security visited Bach Long Vy island

PSNews – A working delegation of the Ministry of Public Security, led by its Deputy Minister, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh paid a working visit to the Bach Long Vy island district, Hai Phong city on Nov. 19-20.

Holding a significant strategic geopolitical position in the Gulf of Tokin, Bach Long Vi island district - one of Vietnam’s eight biggest fishing grounds in the Gulf of Tokin- is endowed with rich biodiversity, including coral reefs and rare maritime flora and fauna.

At the working session, Mr. Do Duc Hoa, Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the District People’s Committee briefed the delegation on the results of the people and authorities in building the island district in recent time.

Accordingly, the Bach Long Vi district Party Committee has obtained many positive achievements in developing the local economy as well as defense and security, and improving the efficiency of the political system and living conditions for local people.

According to him, the island district party committee is striving to build Bach Long Vi as a center of fishery logistics and search and rescue as well as to develop maritime tourism and cultural festivals while linking socio-economic development to firmly protecting national sovereignty over the seas and islands, by 2020.

The local official also pledged to renew its economic structure and to effectively exploit the potential of marine resources, water resources, human resources, ensuring both economic and social development.

At the same time, the island district continues improving its investment environment so it can attract more investors, he added.

Speaking at the working session, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh underscored that Bach Long Vi holds a special, important position in the economic development and national defense strategy for the Gulf of Tokin and the country as a whole.

He asked the authorities and local people to focus on infrastructure and maritime economy while preserving the maritime environment, improving lives of local people and ensuring local security and order and national sovereignty over the seas and islands.

Later, the delegation of the Ministry of Public Security visited the Bach Long Vy District Police, the District Military Command and the district’s primary school. At the meetings with the units and organization, on behalf of the delegation, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh encouraged the officers and soldiers on duty in the far-off islands.

On the occasion of the Vietnamese Teachers’ Day, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh also delivered congratulations to the islander teachers and presented 5 sets of computer to the Bach Long Vi Primary School.
