The newly-established Horse-Mounted Police Squad under the Mobile Police Command has been assigned to train and raise the horses and use them as means to fight crime, according to the decision of the Ministry of Public Security on the establishment of the force on January 15, 2020.
The new squad is mainly tasked to maintain public order and security situations, restore peace, security and order in emergency situations, and serve official ceremonials. Regarding to its operation, it is especially deployed to work in remote and isolated areas of difficult terrains like forests, mountains or to dismiss riots, illegal crowds.
The horse is of the Asian breed that is smaller than the European one but is able to sustain hard work and climate in Vietnam.

Horses staffed to the squad are small in size, but resistant and suitable for the weather in Vietnam. Each of them eats an average of 35kg of grass per day. Their diets are also supplemented with many other essential nutritional substances. |

They begin their working day at 4am and end at 5pm. Every day, the soldiers get up before sunrise to feed their horses, prepare the saddle and then take them to the training field. Summer training starts earlier to avoid the heat. |

In the upcoming time, the horses will be trained to join the mobile police in handling of riots.
