Hai Phong police give new bike to teenager cycles through towns to see mom
Earlier, at 2 am on June 26, police officers from the Duong Kinh District Police Station saw a boy walking pass by while working on duty at Vo Nguyen Giap bridge spotted.
The boy' said he is Hoang Van Quyen, born in 2006 and currently living with his father, grandmother and younger sister in Vinh Phuc Commune, Bac Giang District, Ha Giang Province.
Since Quyen he is taking his summer break, he decided to cycle to Hai Phong to visit his mom, who is working there.
After pedaling about 200km, the boy reached Phu Tho Province. Exhausted after a long ride, he fell asleep. When he woke up, he found both his bicycle and rucksack stolen. Fortunately, some passers-by gave him a ride to Hanoi, then to Hai Duong.
From Hai Duong, he walked about 50km to Hai Phong. When he was trying to seek way to his mom at the foot of Vo Nguyen Giap bridge, he was seen by local police officers who were on duty in the area.
Seeing a worn-out and hungry boy wandering there, the police officers stopped him and bought him food. They also contacted his family to get him.
But, Quyen’s mom had returned to Ha Giang for a break. The local police then took him to the Duong Kinh District Police Station, waiting for his family to take him home.
On June 28, Mrs. Nong Thi May, Quyen’s mom, came to the police station and took him home. The Duong Kinh District Police Station also offered Quyen a new bike and new rucksack.
At the office, May extended her big thanks to the local police for taking care of her lost son.
