Joint training course between the People’s Police Academy and Maryland University wraps up

The ceremony also saw the participation of Lieutenant General, Prof Nguyen Xuan Yem, Director of the People’s Police Academy; Major General Nguyen Van Hanh, Deputy Chief Judge of the Supreme People's Court, Chief Judge of the Central Military Court; Mr. Tran Trung Vinh, Deputy Chief of the Office of Project 165 under the Party Central Committee’s Organization Commission; Mr. Thomas Eckert, Chief of the Regional Security Office at US Embassy in Hanoi; Dr. Wayne McIntosh, Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Graduate Studies of the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences under the University of Maryland.

Upon the approval of the Public Security Ministry, the Education and Training Ministry, the Executive Office of Project 165 under the Central Party Organization Commission, since 2014, the People's Police Academy in collaboration with the University of Maryland has opened the second course of the Affiliate Training Master Program in Criminal Justice. The University of Maryland is known as one of the top universities in graduate education specialized in Criminology and Criminal Justice in USA.
Addressing the closing ceremony, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh recognized and praised the People’s Police Academy for its effective cooperation with the University of Maryland in organizing 2 training courses over the past years, and thanked lecturers from the University of Maryland for their teaching and managing the courses, and contributing to the success of the project.
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh also asked the People’s Police Academy and local police units to summarize experiences in training cooperation; collaborate with relevent units of the Public Security Ministry, the Steering Committee of Project 165, the University of Maryland to prepare and propose next courses to leaders of the Public Security Ministry with the aim of training high quality human resources, serving the management of social order and security, and law enforcement in the country.
He held that, after the joint training course between the People's Police Academy and the University of Maryland, graduates should creatively apply the acquired knowledge into their work, contributing to effectively preventing crimes and ensuring social order and safety in the country.
