Leader of MPS urges Criminal Police to improve professional skills
PSNews – The Department of Criminal Police under the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) recently held a conference to announce Decisions of Minister of Public Security on its functions, missions, power and organizational structure. The department also reviewed its task performance in the first 6 months of 2018.

Senior Lieutenant General Le Quy Vuong, member of the Central Party Committee of Public Security, Deputy Minister of Public Security attended and delivered a keynote speech at the event.
At the conference, representatives of the Department announced the Decisions of the Minister of Public Security on ithe functions, missions, authority and organizational structure of the Department of Criminal Police, and some other decisions on the appointment of new leading positions within the Department.

Regarding its task performance in the first 6 months of 2018, reports read that there were more than 25,800 criminal cases nationwide, down by 0.17% compared to the same period last year. The police force solved 20,516 cases or 79.5%, and arrested 45,503 suspects.
However, criminal gangs tended to move from the North now to the Highlands and southern areas. They then associated with local criminals to conduct protection racket, violent activities, usury and illegal encroachment of public land, which made the local situation complicated. In this situation, the criminal police force stamped out 1,028 criminal gangs and 4,869 subjects of organized crimes.
At the conference, delegates of the departments and delegates from local police discussed and proposed solutions to control crimes.
Speaking at the event, on behalf of the Central Party Committee of Public Security and leaders of the MPS, Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong hailed the achievements in the fight against criminals of the Department of Criminal Police as well as local criminal police units nationwide. He also congratulated the new appointed leaders of the Department.
Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong urged the police officers and soldiers of the Department of Criminal Police to always attach importance to the basic activities and professional work of the public security forces, especially the “unique skills” of the criminal police force. The department should also actively grasp and closely follow developments of the crime situation while the collection of information, documents and statics on crimes must be authentic and comprehensive in order to properly analyse and assess the crime situation.
The Deputy Minister also urged the force to strengthen cooperation with relevant units within and outside the public security forces to promote crime prevention and fight; coordinate with all agencies, branches and organizations to disseminate information and laws, and mobilize people to take part in preventing and reporting on crimes, as well as promote the comprehensive power of the political system and the people in crime prevention and fight.
The unit should pay attention to Party work and force building, well carry out the task of political and ideological education for all officers and soldiers while preventing negative phenomena within the unit, and strictly punish the police officers with the acts of protection racket and illegal support for criminals.
