This conference aimed to fully and comprehensively evaluate the results of the two projects in phase 1, and discuss tasks, measures, and forces for phase 2 when the production and issuance of new ID cards will starts in 2021.
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc emphasized that phase 2 is key to success of the two projects. Citizen information in the national residential database center will be used for ID production. So what citizens need to provide the police when applying for new IDs is only their portraits and fingerprints.
In addition, the national population database system is connected to other information systems managed by governmental agencies so information can continuously be updated.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc asked relevant agencies and units to update population data daily and hourly and complete the population data before a test run on February 26, 2021.
It is expected that the issuance of first new ID cards will start from January 2021.
