The event was chaired by Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Politburo member, Minister of Public Security; the meeting also saw the participation of Deputy Ministers of Public Security: Senior Lieutenant General Le Quy Vuong; Lieutenant General Bui Van Thanh; Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son; and leaders of general departments, units under the Ministry of Public Security.
In a warm atmosphere, Minister To Lam expressed his gratitude to the valuable contributions of generations of leaders and senior officers to protecting social order and safety and building the People Public Security Forces in the past.
Minister To Lam then briefed delegates on the situation of political security, social order and safety in the country, as well as the achievements of the People Public Security Forces in recent times.

He said that complex and negative developments in the situations of the world, region and the country posed many difficulties and challenges to the People’s Public Security Forces in implementing their assigned tasks in 2017. But, the forces tried their best to overcome all difficulties and hardships to excellently complete their tasks and their achievements have been recognized and praised by the Party, the State and the people.
The forces ensured absolute safety of all events within the framework of the APEC Year 2017, particularly the APEC High-level Week in Da Nang, contributing significantly to social and political stability and socio-economic development in the country, and strengthening the country's position in the international arena.
The Minister of Public Security underlined that the sound leadership and guidance of the Party and State, good coordination of other relevant ministries and Central agencies and localities, and great supports from the people are key factors helping the forces to attain such achievements in protecting national security and maintaining political stability, social order and safety over the year.

Minister To Lam also spoke highly of the contribution and support of senior police officers who are officially retired but still make important contributions to the cause of protecting the national security and maintaining social order and safety, and to the building of clean and strong Public Security Forces.
Minister To Lam stressed that the Public Security Forces will continue to strictly implement the Resolution of the 12th National Party Congress and the Resolution of the 6th Central Public Security Party Committee Congress in 2018. The ministry has also been conducting a process of reorganizing and streamlining the forces for effectiveness and efficiency.
Despite difficulties and challenges, Minister To Lam believed that the Public Security Forces will continue to be absolutely loyal to the Party, State and people, and to make a more positive change in protecting national security, maintaining social order and safety while ensuring absolute safety for all political, economic, cultural, social and international events, taking place in the country.

On the occasion of the 2018 Lunar New Year festival, on behalf of the Central Public Security Party Committee, Minister To Lam extended greetings to all former leaders of the Ministry of Public Security and their families; revolution contributors; and generations of public security officers.
He hoped that the senior officers would continue contributing and supporting the Ministry of Public Security in protecting national security, maintaining social order and safety; and enhancing force building.
