Nghe An police enhance information dissemination about election at detention center

Point B, Clause 1, Article 9 of the Law on Enforcement of Custody and Temporary Detention defines that persons held in temporary custody or temporary detention are allowed to exercise the voting right in accordance with the Law on Election of National Assembly deputies and People’s Council deputies, as well as the right to vote in referenda in accordance with the Law on Referendum.
The Nghe An Temporary Detention Center has nearly 1,000 people kept in temporary custody or temporary detention. These days, all staff members of the center are busy preparing security and order for the election.

They also have to give the people kept in temporary custody or temporary detention full information about the election, the procedures for casting ballots, the right to vote, and the significance of the election.
Eligible inmates at the Nghe An Temporary Detention Center will exercise their voting right at polling area No.9, Nghi Kim Commune, Vinh City. Those who cannot go will vote at a mobile ballot box delivered to the center.
According to Colonel Dinh Trong Dung, an officer of the Nghe An Temporary Detention Center, due to the complicated situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, the center have to fulfill the “two dual tasks” of the preparation for the upcoming election, and prevention and control of COVID-19.
