The Hoan Kiem District Police Station has become the first unit under the Hanoi Municipal Police Department to implement the 2021 plan of the Ministry of Public Security to call on people to surrender illegal weapons, explosives and supporting tools to authorities.

On January 27, the first day of the campaign, many people came to the Trang Tien Ward Police Post to give up their illegally-stored guns, gun components, bullets, shells, swords and other rudimentary weapons.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Pham Thi Minh Hue at the Hoan Kiem District Police Station, some of various weapons given to the police are lethal so if they fell into the hands of criminals, it would be very dangerous to people and society.
Lieutenant Colonel Pham Thi Minh Hue added that, thanks to good mass mobilization methods of the police force, 53 guns of all kinds, 1,152 bullets,75 support tools, 329 rudimentary weapons, and 1,385 gun components were surrendered to the Hanoi police in 2020.
In addition, while using professional techniques to monitor parcels, the Hanoi Municipal Police Department also discovered and seized 1,056 parcels containing 460 gun components, 1092 three-piece sticks, 72 rudimentary weapons and swords of all kinds, more than 100 support tools such as pepper spray, rubber bullet guns last year.
