Police Department for Economic Crimes reviews performance of tasks in H1
The Police Department for Corruption, Smuggling and Economic Crimes (Economic Police Department), under the Ministry of Public Security, held a meeting on July 8 to review its tasks performance in the first half of 2021.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Deputy Minister of Public Security, attended and gave a keynote speech at the meeting. Major General Nguyen Van Long, Director of the Police Department for Corruption, Smuggling and Economic Crimes (Economic Police Department) chaired the event.
According to reports at the conference, the economic police sector has taken measures to effectively prevent and curb corruption, smuggling and economic crimes while actively advising higher levels to control economic crime.
In the first 6 months of 2021, the economic police forces prosecuted 2,345 cases and arrested 3,096 suspects, including serious cases related to the health sector in provinces such as Can Tho, Son La, and Hanoi.
They also cracked down on a major case of cross-border money smuggling related to southern provinces.
Notably, the economic sector brought to light a serious law violation case at the Binh Duong Producing and Trading Corporation that are related to former and current provincial leaders of Binh Duong.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc spoke highly of the nationwide economic police force for its outstanding results and achievements over the past time.
Regarding its main tasks in the coming time, the deputy minister asked the economic police force to focus on fighting strongly against economic crimes in cyberspace and those who illegally seek profits from the COVID-19 pandemic.
