Police Sport Tournament 2017 opens
PSNews-The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) organized a ceremony to open the 2017 Police Sport Tournament at the Can Tho Sport Center on July 11.
The two mains events are swim and armed marathon.
The opening ceremony saw the presence of Lieutenant General Le Van De, Deputy Director of the General Department of Public Security Politics and leaders of Can Tho city.
This is part of a course of activities to celebrate the 72th Anniversary of the August Revolution, the National Independence Day, the Traditional Day of the Public Security Forces and the 12th Anniversary of the Movement of All People Protecting National Security.
Additionally, the tournament also aims to promote sport movements across the force, enhance police officers’ bravery, courage, persistence and capacity of combat readiness in practical circumstances, contributing to improving the quality of task performance of all public security forces.
The tourney sees the participation of 63 teams with 750 athletes, representing general departments, high commands, under-ministerial level departments, provincial-level police departments, and schools under the Ministry of Public Security.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Lieutenant General Le Van De affirmed that in order to successfully fulfill the tasks of maintaining national security and social order and safety as well as preserving peaceful life and happiness for the people, each police officer must have good moral virtues, firm political stance, excellent professional skills and good health in order to be able to tackle dangerous crimes and overcome working hardship and difficulties.
Therefore, leaders of the MPS always attach great importance to promoting of sport movements in the entire force.
The Sport event runs from July 7 to 15.
