Tham Con village, Cao Bo commune (Vi Xuyen district, Ha Giang province) was one of the hardest-hit areas when the recent natural disasters were battering Northwestern provinces. Against this backdrop, thousands of police officers and soldiers have been mobilized for rescue missions during the rains, flooding and landslides, as well as for supporting local people in overcoming the consequences.

The local police force is now working the whole day and night alongside locals to rebuild houses, clear off tons of mud, dirt and rock from roads, with the aim of helping the people soon return to normal life.
Ly Van Toong (30) of Tham Con Village said: "Immediately after the flooding, local police officers went 10km of forest paths to support us in overcoming the natural disaster’s consequences".

"They are rebuilding local people’s houses and bridges. We do not know how to live on without them", he added.
Flash floods and landslides generated by the downpours in the past days have caused 3 deaths and material losses of some 24 billion VND to Vi Xuyen district, Ha Giang province.
