Police launch campaign against drug and drink driving

The campaign aims to curb traffic accidents so the traffic police will increase patrols and checks on routes to prevent, detect and strictly handle the drivers who take drugs or alcohol while driving, said Lieutenant Colonel Vu Anh Diep, Vice Head of the Traffic Accident Investigation Office under the Traffic Police Department.
Mobile police checkpoints will be set up at places, such as coach stations, stopovers, ports, depots bars, restaurants and hotspots to test drivers for drug and alcohol.
The Department of Traffic Police also asked its sub-units to use the equipped cameras to record the entire working shift of traffic police officers in an effort to prevent possible bribery as well as oppositions of drivers against the police.
The traffic police force is also assigned to detect and fight other crimes during the campaign, including illegal trafficking of drugs, counterfeit goods and trade fraud.
