Public Security Forces asked to quickly address earthquake consequences
The Office of the Ministry of Public Security on July 28 sent Official Dispatch No. 06/CD-V01 to several police units and agencies, asking them to urgently take measures to address consequences of the earthquake in Son La.
The Dispatch was sent to the Steering Committees for Climate Change, Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, Search and Rescue, and Civil Defense (UPT Steering Committees) under the Provincial Police Departments of Son La, Lai Chau and Hoa Binh, the Mobile Police Command, the Department of Fire and Rescue, the Traffic Police Department, the Police Department, Prison, Correctional Centers and Juvenile Reformatory.
According to the Institute of Geophysics under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, a 5.3-magnitude earthquake hit Moc Chau district, Son La province at 12:15 pm. on July 27 with its epicenter at a depth of 14 kilometers.
According to the official dispatch, the relevant public security agencies and units should strictly follow the directions of the Prime Minister, the Central Steering Committee for Climate Change, Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, Search and Rescue, and the guidelines from the Ministry of Public Security and local authorities to actively address the consequences of the earthquake.
The local police should take measures to ensure safety for local people and work out plans in response to possible future disaster scenarios.
