The police force of Quang Nam, in coordination with other functional forces, spared no effort to search for victims of severe landslides in Tra Leng and Tra Van communes of the Central province’s Nam Tra My district.
By October 30, landslides in Tra Van commune and two in Tra Leng commune of Nam Tra My district had made 15 people missing, 15 dead, and 26 injured in total.
Before the forces of the Quang Nam provincial police and the 5th Military Region came to the scenes, nearly 70 policemen of the Nam Tra My district trekked through the forests or boated to the landslide sites to search for the victims.
On the morning of October 30, the police of Nam Tra My, Bac Tra My districts and the Police Office of Fire and Rescue under the Quang Nam Provincial Police Department sent additional 150 officers and soldiers along with the military force, local authorities and people to search for and rescue the remaining missing victims.
Colonel Ho Song An, Deputy Director of the Quang Nam Provincial Police Department, said that, in addition to maintaining the on-spot rescue force, the Quang Nam provincial police will continue to mobilize more forces and means to participate in the search and rescue missions.
