The ceremony was also to celebrate the 68th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnamese students and the Vietnam Students' Association.

Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh and Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations Hoang Binh Quan attended the event and presented the titles and awards to the outstanding students and groups.
The ceremony also saw the participation of representatives from ministries, committees, branches and Hanoi authorities, generations of cadres of the Vietnam Students' Association and over 500 students in Hanoi.
Over the past 68 years, the Vietnam Students’ Association has now served as a bridge among the generations of students nationwide.
The Vietnam Students’ Association has 285 branches at universities, colleges nationwide, 27 sub-associations at the provincial level, and 9 overseas sub-associations, with more than 1.4 million members.

With active programs and effective movements, the Vietnam Students’ Association plays an important role in fostering generations of talented Vietnamese students with knowledge, skills, creativeness, and readiness and proactiveness in international integration.
Addressing the event, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh praised the Vietnam Students’ Association for the successful implementation of the “Students with Five Good Virtues” movement and hoped that the program would contribute to the development of high quality human resources for the development of the country.
He also urged Vietnamese students to enrich their knowledge and contribute more to the cause of national construction and defense.
The National Congress of the Vietnam Students’ Association for the 2013-2018 term has agreed to implement the movement “Students with Five Good Virtues” movement.

This is a great campaign among students nationwide with prestigious titles rewarded to students with their brilliant results in 5 criteria: "Good learning - good morals - good skills - good integration - good physical fitness".
At the ceremony, the central-level “Students with Five Good Virtues” titles were presented to the outstanding 124 students and 13 groups, while the January Star Awards were presented to 138 outstanding individuals.
7 students from the People's Public Security schools were honored at the ceremony. Among them, Ha Kieu Trang from the People Police Academy honored with the “Students with Five Good Virtues” title; Nguyen Thanh Tuan from the People Security Academy, Nguyen Van Ty from the People Police Academy, Le Thi Van Anh from the Fire Police University, Phan Dinh Linh from the People Police University, Kim Thi Ngoc from the University of Techniques and Logistics of Public Security, and Le Ngoc Ha from the People Security University were honored with the January Star Awards 2017.
