Trang Thanh Nam, 21, a firefighter of the Water Fire and Rescue Police Subdivision, under the Ho Chi Minh City Municipal Fire and Rescue Police, who was a free applicant for this year’s National High School Graduation Examination, took his tests at Tran Van On Secondary School in District 1.
To control the fierce fire on the warehouse near the port, which broke out at night, the city’s Fire Department had had to deploy various fire engines and nearly 200 firefighters, and Nam had also participated in the firefighting.
“Although I would have to sit for the exam early next morning,, knowing that the fire was so violent and spread so rapidly, I decided to go with my comrades, fighting the fire to minimize the property loss and negative impacts on neighboring people,” Nam said.
“I thought that I would return to sleep when we would put out the fire. In fact, I would rather quit my exam than leave my team and let the fire hurt the people,” Nam added.
As mentioned above, the fire was so fierce that Nam and his comrades could not control it till 5 a.m of June 23. Nam then quickly returned to the base and went to school for the exams.
