As soon as arriving in Son Bua commune, the police officers quickly joined hands with local resident in clearing up mud, sand and stones piled up in the crop fields of Nuoc Tang village after the recent flooding.
Ms. Dinh Thi Mep, Secretary of the Son Bua Youth Union chapter said, "The recent flood has damaged nearly 7,000 square meters of the crop area and 35 households in Son Bua commune. The timely support of the police youth union members has meant a lot to the local residents".
According to Captain Tran Van Linh, Secretary of the Youth Union chapter of the Son Tay District Police, the crop area of Nuoc Tang village was terribly flooded. It led to the delay of the winter-spring crop season. Against this backdrop, the police officers focused their force on cleaning up each field and repairing each damaged irrigation section so that local farmers could turn by turn prepare for the winter-spring crop as soon as possible.
Within the framework of the winter volunteer program, the participating police officers also repaired some local bridges and replaced the broken lights of the lighting systems along the inter-commune roads. Besides, they presented 50 packs of gifts, worth of 300,000 VND each, to needy local people and poor students with excellent academic records.
Senior Lieutenant Tran Van Hai, Deputy Secretary of the Quang Ngai Provincial Police's Youth Union said, the "Winter Volunteer" is an annual program of the Provincial Police's Youth Union chapter in recent years to support local people in disadvantaged areas. This year program was organized in Son Bua commune, Son Tay district to help people overcome the consequences of the recent floods. The program also created a humanitarian environment for Youth Union members to serve the people."
