Conference on crime prevention and control held in HCMC
PSNews – The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on September 12 held a conference on strengthening crime prevention and control in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) and neighboring provinces.
Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Nguyen Duy Ngoc chaired the event.
The conference saw the presence of representatives of functional departments under the MPS, representatives of the police departments of the 7 Southern provinces and cities, namely HCMC, Binh Duong, Tay Ninh, Dong Nai, Ba Ria Vung Tau, Long an, Tien Giang, and representatives of the Northern provincial-level police departments of Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Nam Dinh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh.
The conference was held to review results of crime prevention and control in HCMC and neighboring provinces in the past time, especially the fight against newly emerging crimes. At the conference, delegates also proposed a coordination mechanism for the seven Southern provincial-level police departments in crime prevention between relevant units.
At the conference, representatives from the Office of MPS, subordinate units and local police units briefed participants on the security situation and results of crime prevention and control in HCM and neighboring provinces in the past time.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc asked local police units to clearly identify types of new crimes and take comprehensive professional measures against crime, contributing to reducing 5% of the number of violations related to social order.
The Deputy Minister also urged local police forces to improve the efficiency of their administrative management of social order, contributing to strengthening prevention and fight against crime, while promoting international cooperation in preventing and fighting crime as well as actively applying science and technology in crime prevention and control.
