Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung host a meeting on July 14 with Human Right Ambassador of the Netherlands Bahia Tahzib-Lie, who is on a visit to Vietnam.
On behalf of the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) of Vietnam, Lieutenant General Hung welcomed the Dutch Ambassador to Vietnam, and stated that the Vietnam-Netherlands Comprehensive Partnership and cooperation had restlessly thrived in the past time, in terms of politics, diplomacy, economy, trade, education, security and defense. Particularly, the two sides have been cooperating closely in adapting to climate change.
The MPS of Vietnam is serving as a permanent agency of the UN Convention Against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment. It is one of the nine UN conventions on basic human rights. The host thanked the Netherlands for supporting the Vietnamese side to implement the convention.
The host assured that the MPS of Vietnam will enhance cooperation with the relevant Dutch side and proposed the Dutch side to expand cooperation with the MPS.
Thanking the deputy minister for the meeting, the Dutch ambassador highly valued mutual political trust and support at international forums. He congratulated Vietnam on its great achievements in recent times.
The ambassador pledged that she would try her best to bolster the bilateral relations between the two countries and cooperation between Vietnam’s MPS and relevant Dutch agencies for national security of each country and benefits of each nation.
