Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung meets with senior officials of Saudi Arabian Ministry of Interior
As a member of a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visiting the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Qatar from October 27th to November 1st, Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung had talks with Deputy Minister of the Ministry of the Interior of Saudi Arabia Nasser bin Abdulaziz Al-Dawood, on October 30th, 2024.
As a member of a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visiting the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Qatar from October 27th to November 1st, Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung had talks with Deputy Minister of the Ministry of the Interior of Saudi Arabia Nasser bin Abdulaziz Al-Dawood, on October 30th, 2024.
At the talks, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung expressed his delight at visiting Saudi Arabia on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam – Saudi Arabia diplomatic relations.
The guest congratulated Saudi Arabia on positive developments in the bilateral cooperation in terms of politics, diplomacy, economy, society, investment, trade, tourism and people-to-people exchange between the two countries in recent times.
He also expressed his impression on major important changes of Saudi Arabia after having realized its “Vision toward 2030” only for some time.
At the talks, the two sides agreed to further promote cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Saudi Arabian Ministry of the Interior in the fields of security, police, law enforcement and national security and social order.
The Vietnamese head delegate also took the chance to ask his Saudi Arabian counterpart to protect legitimate rights of the Vietnamese citizens living and working legally in Saudi Arabia.
In addition, the two deputy ministers also reached consensus on not allowing any organization or individual to use one country’s territory to carry out sabotage activities against the other country while coordinating closely to ensure security and safety for lawful investment, trade, labor and travel activities between the two countries, as well as protecting legitimate rights and benefits of citizens and diplomatic missions of one country in the other country.
The two side also agreed to continue completing the legal corridor to strengthen long-term cooperation between the two ministries.
Particularly, the two countries should early put into effect the cooperation agreement on crime prevention and control signed by the two governments in 2023, and step up the negotiation and signing of other cooperation documents, such as an Agreement on Transfer of Sentenced Persons and a Memorandum of Understanding on Extradition.
Finally, the two sides agreed to enhance exchange of information, especially information related to transnational crime, high-tech crime, drug-related crime and human trafficking, while jointly organizing training and capacity-building programs on issues of mutual concerns.
