Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung visits Vietnamese forces at UNISFA Mission
Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung and leaders of the Standing Office of the Ministry of Public Security on UN Peacekeeping Operations joined the Defense Ministry's delegation to visit Vietnamese forces at the Peacekeeping Mission in Abyei (UNISFA Mission), from October 17 to October 21.
At the meeting with Acting Commander of the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Abyei Brigadier General Abu Syed Mohammod Bakir, Deputy Minister of Public Security of Vietnam Le Quoc Hung briefed the participants on Vietnam’s preparation and deployment of police officers to the UNISFA Mission over the past time, affirming that the deployment of Vietnamese peacekeeping forces to UN peacekeeping operations demonstrates Vietnam’s foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation and development.
He reiterated Vietnam’s viewpoint in international relations by saying, “Vietnam is a friend, a reliable partner, and a responsible member of the international community.”
Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung added that the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam has sent one officer to work at the United Nations Peace Operations Department (New York, USA) and three police officers to the UN Peacekeeping Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).
The Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam is committed to actively participating in UN peacekeeping operations, by preparing police officers for replacing those who finish their working term as well as for undertaking new positions at UN peacekeeping missions.
For his part, Brigadier General Abu Syed Mohammod Bakir and other officials from the UNISFA Mission highly appreciated the expertise and professionalism of the Vietnamese peacekeeping force.
They said, although newly deployed to the Mission, Engineer Squad 1 and UNISFA Task Force of Vietnam have made contributions to the UNISFA Mission and local community, leaving a good impression on their international peers and local people.
