At the meeting with Commissioner of the Fire and Disaster Management Agency (FDMA) under the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan Ikeda Tatsuo, Deputy Minister Nguyen Ngoc Lam affirmed that the visit of MPS delegation aimed to deepen the relationship between Vietnam’s MPS and the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, especially the Fire and Disaster Management Agency, after the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) between the two ministries in 2018.

The guest proposed that the Japanese side continue to effectively implement the signed MoC, enhance delegation exchange, support Vietnam’s MPS in training and capacity building of its fire and rescue police force as well as jointly organize fire prevention and fighting drills as well as natural disaster relief and rescue exercises in natural disasters.

At other meetings with functional divisions under the Japanese Fire and Disaster Management Agency, the Fire Equipment and Safety Center of Japan (FESC), the Japan Fire Equipment Inspection Institute (JFEII), Japanese experts shared with Vietnamese delegates hands-on experience in state management of fire prevention and fighting, procedures for fire safety appraisal and inspection,  technical standards and regulations on fire prevention and fighting as well as application of science and modern technologies in the fire and rescue industry.

On the occasion, the Vietnamese delegation also visited two large Japanese enterprises with more than 100 years of experience in trading and manufacturing fire prevention and rescue equipment and vehicles, including Nohmi Bosai Company and Morita Company.

At the visits, Deputy Minister Nguyen Ngoc Lam suggested that the two sides should closely coordinate in scientific research and technology transfer, so as to make fire protection equipment, vehicles and systems manufactured by the two companies more suitable for the actual weather, infrastructure and traffic conditions in Vietnam.

At the meeting with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Deputy Minister Nguyen Ngoc Lam sincerely thanked for JICA’s support for Vietnam’s MPS in implementing ODA projects in Vietnam, as well as discussed solutions to override difficulties and obstacles in the implementation of ODA projects and to boost the progress of the implementation of projects.
