Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long: Corrections at prison reflects the Party and State’s humanity and clemency policy

Major General Nguyen Van Long, Deputy Minister of Public Security, had a meeting with leaders of the Police Department of Management of Prisons, Compulsory Re-education Centers and Reformatories on March 17.

The event saw the presence of Lieutenant General Le Minh Hung, Director as well as other leaders of the department, various heads of subunits under the department across the country.

Major General Tran Van Thien, Vice Director of the department, briefed Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long and other delegates on results of the task performance of the corrections police force over the past time as well as its work plan of the department for the coming time.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long highly valued the work results of the force and agreed with the work plan of the department for the coming time. Regarding its task of drafting new legal documents and revising the current ones, the deputy minister asked the department to consult experts about legal issues.

The department should direct the force to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the execution of prison sentences, and let all prisoners comprehend the clemency and humanity policy of our Party and State towards them.

Given the complicated situation of the pandemic, the deputy minister asked the department to strengthen COVID-19 prevention and control at detention places, and has plans to respond to a new normal state.

He urged the department to prepare legal corridor, invest in technical facilities, information and communication as well as human resources to implement the Project on “Building clean, strong, regular, elite and modern Public Security Forces, meeting all requirements of tasks in the new situation”.
