Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long praises Cao Bang Provincial Police Department for dismantling cybercriminal group
Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long sent a letter to the Cao Bang Provincial Police Department on March 8, praising the police department for successfully dismantling transnational criminal networks using high technology to illegally appropriate people’s property.
The content of the letter has been translated into English as follows:
Over the past time, the Cao Bang Provincial Police Department closely coordinated with the Criminal Police Department and the Representative Office of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam in Cambodia to take synchronous professional measures to investigate two large-scale criminal networks using high technology to defraud people of their money.
By now, the police have arrested and prosecuted 63 suspects and seized 87 computers, 85 mobile phones along with numerous documents and exhibits related to the cases.
The investigation results revealed that the suspects had impersonated the Vietnam Computerized Lottery Company and created fake e-commerce websites to defraud hundreds of victims, illegally appropriating more than 2.3 trillion VND.
This outstanding achievement has demonstrated the high determination, strong sense of responsibility and sharp professional expertise of the Cao Bang Police Force while implementing the directions of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security on drastically suppressing crimes to ensure security and order for the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the 2026 Lunar New Year and on combating organized crime, hi-tech crime and online fraud.
The clearance of the two cases reflected the effective collaboration between under-ministerial and provincial-level police departments both at home and abroad, contributing to deterring and preventing crime and strengthening public trust in the Public Security Forces.
On behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long acknowledged and commended the involved units and officers on their accomplishment.
The Deputy Minister requested the Cao Bang Provincial Police Department and relevant units to promptly expand the investigation, complete related documents and evidence as well as legal procedures to prosecute all involved persons, in accordance with the law.
He also requested spreading public warnings about criminal methods and tricks so as to raise people’s vigilance against this type of crime.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long wished the Cao Bang Police Force to achieve more success at work in the coming time.
