The two sides maintained regular high-level delegation exchange, closely coordinated to address regional and international issues of mutual concern, provided mutual support for each other at multilateral forums and join common effort to build a united ASEAN community playing the central role in the region.

On the basis of the agreement on countering transnational crime between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Singaporean Ministry of Home Affairs signed in 2018, the two ministries effectively exchanged criminal information, supporting each other’s police force to investigate and clear criminal cases in each country, as well as closely coordinated to track and arrest fugitives wanted by the police of one country hiding in the other country.

Regarding fire and rescue cooperation, the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam regularly sent its firefighters to attend the Fire and Rescue Command Training Course at the Civil Defense Academy of Singapore.

In addition, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long appreciated the Singaporean Ministry of Home Affairs for organizing training programs, contributing to building the capacity of the Vietnamese police force so as to meet its task requirements in the new situation.

In the current complicated drug-related crime and cybercrime situation in each country and the region, the two sides thoroughly discussed difficulties, challenges for the police in fighting against these types of crime, and sought approaches to effectively combat these crimes in ASEAN as well as in each country.

To further promote the bilateral cooperation between the two ministries, the two head delegates agreed to promote exchanges of high-level and expert-level delegations to discuss issues of mutual concern, as well as provide mutual support for each other at regional and international forums.

The two sides reached consensus on enhancing sharing of criminal information related to the two countries, as well as coordinating to ensure security and safety for one country’s citizens living, working, travelling, investing or doing business in the other country.

Next, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long had a field trip to the Our Tampines Hub in the Northeast District of Singapore, which provides integrated public services of 26 ministries and agencies to Singaporean people under the initiative of former Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in 2017.

At the visit, the Governor of the Northeast District of Singapore Desmond Choo introduced to the Vietnamese delegation the operation of the hub and wished to strengthen cooperation with Vietnamese functional agencies.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long suggested that the two sides should consider connecting the VNeID system of Vietnam and the SingPass system of Singapore in the coming time, so as to facilitate people of the two countries while travelling and working in the other country as well as support the work of transnational crime control and supervision of functional agencies of the two countries.
