Deputy Minister Pham The Tung hosts US Under Secretary of State

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Pham The Tung welcomed the delegation of the US Department of State led by Under Secretary Bonnie Jenkins to Vietnam to attend the 13th Vietnam-US Political, Security, and Defense Dialogue in Hanoi.

At the meeting, the two sides shared the same view that the Vietnam – US bilateral relations has witnessed many positive developments over the past time, especially after the upgrading of bilateral ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership during the visit of President Joe Biden to Vietnam last year.

Regarding specialized cooperation, thanks to the active involvement of the US Department of State, the cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and US counterparts has gone into depth and achieved numerous positive results in crime prevention and control as well as training and capacity building.

For her part, Under Secretary Bonnie Jenkins thanked Deputy Minister Pham The Tung for the meeting, underlining that the recent Vietnam-US Political, Security, and Defense Dialogue concluded with many positive results.

The US official stated that, in the coming time, US relevant agencies will further promote specific cooperation in security and law enforcement with Vietnamese partners, considering security and law enforcement cooperation as an important foundation to reach the major goals agreed by the two countries’ top leaders in the Joint Statement on elevating Vietnam - US ties to comprehensive strategic partnership.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Pham The Tung suggested that Under Secretary Bonnie Jenkins, with her knowledge, experience and capacity, continue to promote cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and US partners in depth and for practical and effective results, commensurate with the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, bringing the maximum benefits to people of the two countries as well as contributing to peace and stability in the region and the world.
