DIC raises funds for flood victims

The Department for Information and Communication (DIC) under the Ministry of Public Security on September 12 launched a fund-raising event to support people affected by Typhoon Yagi in Northern provinces.

Senior Colonel Bui Anh Tuan, Vice Director of the DIC, said that, in response to the call of General Secretary and President To Lam, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and the Ministry of Public Security, the DIC called on all officers, soldiers and employees of the unit to donate cash and necessities in support of the people affected by storm No. 3.

The official also requested that all press and media agencies in the People's Public Security Force should send their reporters to localities affected severely by the natural disasters to cover situations and people’s lives there as well as the effort, enthusiam and assistance of the local police force in helping people overcome the aftermath of floods and landslides.

Public security press and media should also reflect good people, good deeds, bravery and self-sacrifice of police officers and soldiers in the fight against the natural disasters.

In recent days, the Youth Union chapter of the DIC has also coordinated with the Youth Union chapter of Vietnam Television and the Tam Long Viet Fund to mobilize agencies, units, businesses, and benefactors to donate necessities, medicines, clothes worth more than 5 billion VND in total in support of people in disaster-hit localities. The donated goods will be given to people in  Phu Tho, Yen Bai, Lao Cai and other affected localities.
