Family of fallen officer Vi Van Luan receives “Fatherland’s Recognition of Merit” Certificate
The Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Department in coordination with the People's Committee of Muong Lat town, Muong Lat district organized a ceremony to announce the Prime Minister's decision to award the Fatherland’s Recognition of Merits” Certificate to the family of fallen police officer Vi Van Luan, on the morning of January 31.
Vi Van Luan was a police officer in Pu Nhi commune, Muong Lat district, who had heroically fallen while performing his duties.
Officer Vi Van Luan, born in 1981, is of the Thai ethnicity in Tam Chung commune, Muong Lat district.
In September 2020, the police officer was deployed to work in Pu Nhi commune, Muong Lat district according to the project to post regular police officers to communes and townships launched by the Ministry of Public Security.
During his work, he always had a high sense of responsibility and dedication to work, and completed all of his assignments.
At around 7:00 p.m. on February 6, 2021, the Muong Lat District Police Station coordinated with the police posts of communes in the district to carry out a campaign to arrest suspects of illegally trafficking drugs from Ta Com village to Mau village.
During the operation, criminals used handguns to fight back fiercely, and shot Major Vi Van Luan to die.
Recognizing the sacrifice of officer Vi Van Luan, on February 7, 2021, Minister of Public Security To Lam signed a decision to posthumously promote officer Vi Van Luan from Major to Lieutenant Colonel.
The Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Department and functional agencies then completed the documents and procedures on the promotion and sent them to competent authorities.
On January 19, 2024, the Prime Minister signed a decision granting the Certificate of "Fatherland's Recognition of Merit" to Lieutenant Colonel Vi Van Luan, former police officer of Muong Lat district, Thanh Hoa province.
