Hanoi traffic police seek new ways to prevent drunk driving

PSNews – New posters saying “don’t drive after drinking” are hung at restaurants and bars in the districts of Nam Tu Liem and Cau Giay on July 25 by officers from Traffic Police Team No.6 under the Traffic Police Division of the Hanoi Municipal Police Department.

The posters made by the Traffic Police Team No. 6 show the harmful effects of alcohol on driving ability, as well as fines for acts of violating drunk-driving regulations or committing criminal driving offences.

This is the latest method of popularizing the drunk-driving regulations that the Hanoi traffic police force has employed to raise people's awareness of the harms and dangers of drunk driving.

Most of the diners showed their support and consensus on the local traffic police’s slogan “No drinking while driving”.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Tuyet, owner of a local beer restaurant, said that, in  recent times, her restaurant’s staff regularly requests their customers not to drive after drinking beer. Her restaurant also hires motorbike and taxi service companies or freelance drivers to take customers home.

According to Major Tran Quang Chinh, Deputy Head of  Traffic Police Team No.6, posters on the harms of drunk driving will be hung in 100 restaurants in Cau Giay and Nam Tu Liem districts in the coming time.

The new method is implemented by by officers from Traffic Police Team No.6 under the Traffic Police Division of the Hanoi Municipal Police Department.
