On the occasion of the Vietnamese traditional lunar New Year (Tet) 2022 – the Year of the Tiger, Editor-in-Chief of the Public Security Newspaper, Senior Colonel Pham Khai, on behalf of the staff of the newspaper, extends Tet greetings to all contributors, friends and readers of the newspaper.
Below are the Editor-in-Chief’s New Year greetings in English:
"Dear colleagues, friends and readers!
The year of 2021 was a special year for the world as well as for Vietnam. As the COVID-19 epidemic spread rapidly in Vietnam, it caused negative impacts on national socio-economic development. In this context, we, the staff of the newspaper, all tried our best to perform our duties, and indeed the newspaper successfully completed its political missions of providing timely, accurate and reliable information to our domestic and international readers, despite the complicated situation of the pandemic.
Thus it can be said that 2021 was considered a busy but successful year of the Public Security Newspaper, and its success reaffirmed its position and role in the Vietnamese press, especially when the newspaper celebrated its 75th anniversary of the first issue last year.
Following Decision No. 362/QD-TTg made on April 3, 2019 by the Prime Minister approving the master plan on development and management of the national press until 2025 and the decision by the Minister of Public Security, since March 2021, the Public Security Newspaper has managed all local-level police newspapers, namely the Ho Chi Minh City Public Security Newspaper (Cong an TP Ho Chi Minh), the Capital Security Newspaper (An ninh Thu do), the Hai Phong Security Newspaper (An ninh Hai Phong) and the Da Nang Public Security Newspaper (Cong an Da Nang). Apart from its traditional publications of the Cong An Nhan dan (People’s Public Security) Daily, fortnight newspaper Van nghe Cong an (Public Security Literature and Arts), weekly two-issue newspaper An ninh the gioi (World Security), and CAND Online in 3 languages: Vietnamese, English and Chinese, it now has four more publications featuring police forces in the four Centrally-run cities.
Despite numerous difficulties and challenges, leaders, reporters and workers of the Public Security Newspaper still stood united and excellently fulfilled all tasks assigned by the Public Security Central Party Committee, leaders of the Ministry of Public Security.
During the year, we, the staff of the newspaper, faithfully reflected all major happenings and events at home and around the world in its publication and editions.
Regarding its political mission, the Public Security Newspaper, as the voice of the People’s Public Security Forces and people, actively and effectively popularized the Party's guidelines, the State's policies and laws, directions of the Ministry of Public Security on ensuring security and order, and promoted the building of national-level emulation movements, as well as faithfully reflected the task performances of the Public Security Forces, contributing to raising the position of the Public Security Forces, and connecting the Public Security Forces with other branches, agencies and the people.
In the face of the complicated development of the COVID-19 pandemic, all publications of the newspaper, published thousands of articles on Vietnam's great effort to fight against COVID-19 pandemic, especially the significant contribution of the Public Security Forces to COVID-19 prevention and control.
Especially, all publications and editions of the Public Security Newspaper have focused on covering news on the elections of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and all-level People's Councils for the 2021-2026 tenure; the first year of the implementation of resolutions of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam an the 7th Public Security Party Congress for the 2020 – 2025 term, while publishing carious features and in-depth articles on issues related to national security, social order and safety, national socio-economic development, culture and sports, life and work of all people, bringing an overall picture of Vietnam to domestic and international readers.
Regarding international issues and foreign affairs, reporters of the newspaper closely followed and reported on major events and happenings in the region and world in a timely, precise and objective manner. The newspaper also gave readers an insight into Vietnam’s foreign policy and its viewpoints on major international security issues, as well as covered diplomatic activities of leaders of the Party, State, National Assembly, Government and Public Security Forces, including their visits to foreign countries, their participation in multilateral forums, their reception of visiting delegates of foreign countries, and diplomatic exchange activities between Vietnamese leaders and leaders of foreign countries. Specially, the newspaper highlighted Vietnam's activities and efforts as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in the term 2020-2021.
Following the development trend of the press and media in the world, the Public Security Newspaper focused on improving the quality and effectiveness of its online editions in Vietnamese and foreign languages last year, in the hope that we would serve more readers at home and overseas.
For the outstanding achievements in disseminating the Party’s guidelines, the State’s laws and policies, and reflecting activities of the Public Security Forces, contributing to the cause of building and defending the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam, the Public Security Newspaper was recently awarded with the First-class Labor Medal.
During a solemn ceremony hosted on December 23, 2021, State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended and presented medals to the Public Security Newspaper’s leaders. This is a great honor for the People's Public Security Newspaper and me personally!
Dear colleagues, friends and readers,
At present, the Public Security Newspaper has three online editions in Vietnamese, English and Chinese, meeting an increasing demand of domestic and international readers for information.
On the occasion of the Lunar New Year, on behalf of the staff of the newspaper, I appreciate the supports and constructive opinions and ideas from domestic and international readers on our English Online Edition. We wish to receive more supports for and comments on our publications and online editions so that we can further improve the quality of our information service.
Alongside their professional tasks, the staff of the newspaper has also been active in carrying out social activities, supporting needy people in remote and mountainous areas as well as victims of natural disasters nationwide and armed officers on the frontline of the fight against COVID-19 over the past year.
The total amount of money that the Newspaper has mobilized organizations, businesses and individuals to donate social and charitable programs in 2021 reached over 10 billion VND.
On the occasion of the Vietnamese Traditional Lunar New Year – the Year of the Tiger, we, all staff members of the Public Security Newspaper, would like to extend best wishes to our colleagues, friends and readers.
2022 is a very important year for the country as it is the second year to implement the resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam. The newspaper of the People's Public Security Forces will do our best to accomplish our political responsibilities and provide our readers with full information and in-depth analyses of all major happenings and events in the country and around the world, following our motto: "Humanity - Reliability - Timeliness".
Thank you very much!"
