Immigration management force must be clean, strong, professional, well-trained, and modernized: Deputy Minister
Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang attended a conference chaired by Director of the Immigration Department Major General Quach Huy Hoang on January 5 to review the force’s task performance in 2021 and deploy a work plan for 2022.
According to a summary report presented at the meeting, although entry and exit were restricted in 2021 due to COVID-19, the force still faced various difficulties and challenges related to the pandemic.
In this context, leaders and staff of the Immigration Department under the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) stood united and joined efforts to complete their assigned tasks, contributing to preventing the spread of the pandemic into the country as well as ensuring security and safety for significant events of the country.
In recognition of their achievements in the year, various sub-units and officers of the Immigration Department were presented with awards by authorities at all levels. The Immigration Department was awarded the third-class Labor Order by the State President and an Emulation Flag "For Homeland Security" by the MPS in 2021.
Speaking at the conference, on behalf of the MPS leadership, Deputy Minister Quang praised the efforts made by the Immigration Department in 2021.
He highlighted some achievements of the force over the past year, saying that the force contributed positively to controlling the COVID-19 at border gates by strictly managing entry into and exit from the country.
The Immigration Department also promptly advised the MPS leadership to issue timely guidelines and policies to flexibly adapt the force’s operation to the "new normal" state, Deputy Minister Quang added.
Regarding their tasks in 2022 and the following years, Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang requested the Immigration Department to take effective measures to manage immigration and residency of foreigners in Vietnam while promptly detecting and resolutely handling any organizations, individuals that violate the laws on entry into or exit from the country.
He asked, the department should speed up the drafting of a project on strengthening the management of foreigners in Vietnam and regulations on management and use of the database on entry, exit, transit, and residency of foreigners in Vietnam.
Deputy Minister Quang also asked the Party committee and leaders of the Immigration Department to pay special attention to Party and force building as well as strictly follow the Resolutions of the Politburo on building a truly clean, strong, professional, well-trained and modernized immigration management force.
